Rugby League - 2016
Tea Gardens Public School played in the annual Newcastle Knights Rugby League Knockout last Thursday achieving some very pleasing results including:
A draw against Greta PS 4-4
A loss against Marks Point PS 4-0
A draw against Beresfield PS 8-8
A win against Mayfield East PS 8-4
A win against Wiripaang PS 16-8
Coaching of the team was again shared between Senior Constable David Coyle, Mark Clemson and local guru Col McCarthy.
"The results achieved this year exceeded our expectations. Our teams are getting better year after year." Principal Clemson said. "To say I'm proud of our boys and girls is an understatement- I'm thrilled how they performed".
Tea Garden's progression in the knockout came down to the last preliminary match of the day. A draw in the game between Beresfield and Greta would have been enough to see our local team through to the quarter finals. Unfortunately, this was not meant to be with Greta PS being victorious and progressing through. Regardless, the kids had an awesome time staying true to the old adage that it doesn't matter whether you win or lose as long as you do your best and are having fun.
