For the pas
t 18 months, Kinder
garten students at Tea Gardens have be
en powering through a new
E
nglish program called
‘L3' – Language, Learning and Literacy. The program is designed to accelerate
and support all students to become successful readers and writers. L3 is based around the latest world-wide studies, where students work in small groups of three and are explicitly taught
the skills and knowledge involved in reading,
writing and comprehending. Quality literature is used to support this program. Our kindergarten teachers were very keen to be trained, and both Mrs Andrews and Mrs Booth have enjoyed sharing the developmental success of their students with parents and their colleagues, since its inception last year.
The L3 Program has been so successful, that we have extended the program to Year One students and staff this year- achieving outstanding results.
Our Kindergarten to Year Two staff are also trained in the latest numeracy teaching techniques, and are using the TEN (Targeting Early Numeracy) Program, within their classrooms. This program, like L3, supports all students in becoming successful mathematicians, with students working in small tailored groups to build mental skills and knowledge when working mathematically. This program encourages practical skills that are related to everyday problems encountered by students.
Tea Gardens Public School is looking forward to continuing and extending these successful programs even further in the future. Both these programs support the Best Start initiatives that have been embedded into our school programs for the past six years.
The school is now enrolling students for the 2016 Kindergarten intake. Parents are most welcome to contact the school office for an enrolment package on 49970286 or make an appointment to learn more about these wonderful programs.
